Sunny days are back again, says Observatory

Bring out the shades and suntan lotion for the weekend - it's going to be hot and sunny again, according to the Hong Kong Observatory.

Days of rain are normally expected after a passing storm, but the recent typhoon Imbudo's effects have been particularly short-lived, the weatherman said yesterday. 'We expect the unstable weather to pass by the end of today. The weather will be fine and hot in the next few days,' a spokesman said.

Imbudo, the first typhoon to threaten Hong Kong this year, was predicted to cause havoc on the city but it caused little disruption to everyday life.

Life was back to normal soon after the final storm signals were lowered on Thursday morning with only minor reports of building damage and fallen trees.

There had been quite a bit of rain yesterday and last night, and a little today, said the observatory spokesperson yesterday. 'But a ridge of high pressure extending from the southeast should bring fine and hot weather.'

It should be hot and sunny tomorrow - perfect weather for the Liverpool match.

The fine spell and high temperatures are expected to continue until at least early next week. [email protected]
