HONG KONG'S political landscape has seen so many twists and turns over the past month, it is like watching a TV soap opera.
First there was the 500,000-strong demonstration, followed by the sudden resignation of Liberal Party chief James Tien Pei-chun from the Executive Council, the deferral of Article 23 legislation and two key ministers leaving the cabinet.
All these incidents are likely to feature in the political satire, East Wing West Wing Reloaded, at the Shouson Theatre, Hong Kong Arts Centre, next month.
The comedy, a sequel to the successful play East Wing West Wing staged in April, is being produced by Zuni Icosahedron and Edward Lam Dance Theatre. It will also touch on the accountability system introduced by Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa one year ago.
Co-directors and co-writers Mathias Woo Yan-wai and Edward Lam Yick-wah think it is time to review political developments over the past few weeks. 'The accountability system is a big failure. Is there something wrong with the system or the people carrying it out? There are lots of things we can talk about,' Wu said. 'We will not just criticise the government, but see politics from different angles.'
The play, comprising more than 13 scenes, will focus on politics, govern-ment and society among other issues.
