A vote for the bridge
I refer to the article headlined 'Vision of a speedy cross-delta journey' (July 29) by Gary Cheung.
The bridge will make a dramatic difference. It will only take 15 minutes to travel from Hong Kong to Macau and Zhuhai over the Pearl River Delta. Not only will the distance be shortened, but the bridge will provide a new alternative in getting across the delta.
Its construction is going to be an expensive and magnificent task.
I believe the bridge will facilitate the development of the economy and tourism in Hong Kong and Macau. It will encourage people in Macau and Zhuhai to visit Hong Kong and boost trade between them all.
Moreover, it will also provide a golden working opportunity, which can ease the problem of unemployment in Hong Kong. This is very beneficial. Sooner or later, it will help lift prosperity on both sides of the delta.
