Pinnacle apartments aimed at travellers

Henderson Land Development has turned 40 flats at The Pinnacle in Tsim Sha Tsui into serviced apartments in a move to attract tenants who travel abroad frequently.

Faced with keen competition in the leasing market, the developer said it hoped to provide more choices for customers.

It has reserved the units on the 18th to 22nd floors of The Pinnacle as serviced flats, providing them with hotel services such as housekeeping and 24-hour security.

A spokesman for Henderson Land said the company might consider converting more units into serviced apartments if the response was encouraging.

'We want to test the market first,'' she said.

The project's location next to the KCR station in Hunghom could prompt companies to rent units for senior staff who travelled to the mainland frequently, the company said.

The newly completed 35-storey The Pinnacle, on Minden Avenue, has 262 units ranging from 498 square feet to 976 sqft.

Michael Tse, assistant manager at Midland Realty's Tsim Sha Tsui branch, said units with a harbour view would attract senior executives.

Rentals were 30 per cent to 40 per cent higher than those for non-serviced units in Tsim Sha Tsui, he said.

Henderson Land said rents for serviced apartments at The Pinnacle averaged HK$30 per square foot. Henderson-Miramar Hotel Management, a subsidiary of Henderson Land Development, has been appointed to manage the serviced units.

Henderson-Miramar said five of the serviced units had been leased.

Henderson is offering flexible leases from a month up. Monthly rentals range between HK$15,500 for a one-room apartment and HK$28,800 for a three-room unit of 974 sqft.

All furniture and electrical appliances are included, as are telephone services, rates and management fees.
