$10m in nokia mobile phones stolen from truck

A goods truck containing 4,000 Nokia mobile phones worth an estimated $10 million was stolen in Tsuen Wan. The truck had been parked in Chai Wan Kok Street at 9pm on Tuesday as the driver, 30, and his colleague went for dinner. The two men alerted police at 10.30pm after they had returned to find the truck missing. The truck was later found abandoned in a car park near the junction of Texaco Road and Ma Tau Pa Road in Tsuen Wan at 3am yesterday. Some 200 boxes containing the phones had disappeared.

Services suspended after tram derails in central

Tram services between Central and Queensway were suspended for 1? hours after a tram derailed. Emergency repairs were carried out after the Causeway Bay-bound tram derailed in Des Voeux Road Central outside the Legislative Council Building at 9.45am. A spokesman for Hongkong Tramways said the service was resumed at 11.20am after repairs had been completed, adding that a probe would be launched to find out the cause of the incident.

worker dies after falling into the sea from a barge

A Hong Kong worker died after he reportedly lost his balance and fell into the sea from a container aboard a barge off Yau Ma Tei. The 34-year-old man fell into the water off the Yau Ma Tei typhoon shelter and disappeared, prompting an air and sea search just after 2.30am. He was spotted by firemen at about 8am and brought aboard a fireboat, where he was certified dead by ambulance crew.
