Gadgets & games

Alcatel One Touch 535: Alcatel's first mobile phone with a colour display continues the company's previous design that lets you play games by turning the phone sideways. There's even a multi-directional joystick. The dual-band 535 comes with a large 4,096-colour display, made all the more larger when viewed horizontally. ($1,680)

Toshiba PDR-M700: This digital camera is one of a host of new models to feature a powerful zoom lens. With the built-in 4x digital zooming capability, the PDR-M700 really lets you get those difficult close-up shots from afar. It offers 3.2 Megapixel (2048x1536) image capability using a 1/2.7-inch CCD. (Price: $2,800)

D'zign by Che-ez!: This multi-function device is inexpensive and light (113g), and records video in MPEG-4 format at up to VGA (640x480) quality, but only at 13 frames-per-second (fps). You must reduce the quality by half to get decent 20 fps recordings (normal movies are shot at 24 fps). There's no zoom, and with an aperture of F3.5, it requires a lot of light. (Price: around $1,600)
