A taxi driver was robbed of $1,900 and a mobile phone after he was threatened at knifepoint and tied up by two passengers in North Point. The 40-year-old man's taxi was flagged down by the two men in Lai Tak Tsuen Road, Causeway Bay, just after 3.30am. When it reached Yee King Road, one of the men threatened him with a knife. The robbers, thought to be aged about 20, tied up the driver with adhesive tape and fled. The victim later managed to free himself.

Mainlanders detained after Stun gun seized

Four mainlanders holding two-way permits were being held for questioning last night after police seized a stun gun in a Shamshuipo flat. Officers from Kowloon West raided the apartment in Nam Cheong Street just after 11pm on Monday and arrested two men and two women, aged between 33 and 52. Police said the stun gun was believed to have been smuggled into Hong Kong from the mainland.

Teenagers held for head-bashing robberies

Two teenage boys are being held in a boys' home in Kowloon Tong after being arrested in connection with two head-bashing robberies in Aberdeen. The boys, aged 13 and 14, were arrested separately on descriptions given by the robbery victims. A mobile phone stolen from one of the victims was recovered at the home of one of the boys. On August 4, a 60-year-old man was robbed of a mobile phone and $200 after being bludgeoned outside Wah Oi House, Wah Kwai Estate, in Aberdeen. On Friday, a 48-year-old woman was clubbed outside Wah Yin House on the same estate. The two robbers fled empty-handed.

There was no winner of the first prize in last night's lottery, so $5,138,633 will be carried forward to tomorrow's jackpot. The numbers were 13, 16, 20, 30, 36 and 47. The extra number was 24. Two tickets each won the second prize of $856,435, and 70 tickets each won the third prize of $65,250.
