Ministers to discuss drug-control measures

Ministers and officials from six countries in the Mekong sub-region will start a three-day meeting in Vietnam today to boost regional co-operation in drug control. More than 100 delegates from Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam will discuss measures to monitor drug use and tackle crimes in the region. AFP

Eight Asian leaders to attend Boao Forum

Eight Asian leaders have agreed to take part in the Boao Forum in early November. The forum in Hainan will be attended by Premier Wen Jiabao, Singapore Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong, Hong Kong Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa and his Macau counterpart, Edmund Ho, among other leaders from Central and South Asia, the People's Daily reported. SWALLOWS DELAY FLIGHTS

A large flock of swallows caused more than 100 flights to be delayed at Beijing international airport on Sunday. The birds were blocking the airspace about 100 meters above one of the airport's two runways, making it impossible for planes to land for three hours. Agencies
