The Jockey Club will operate betting pools on the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe on October 5 in what it hopes will be part of its future product expansion under the two-way banner of the Good Neighbour Policy. Executive director of racing, Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges said. 'But it will not be a one-way procedure. For the first time this year, the French pari-mutuel betting organisation, the PMU, will operate on the Hong Kong International Race meeting and we hope this will be the start of a relationship in the future under the Good Neighbour Policy.' Engelbrecht-Bresges said the Arc weekend in Paris would be an important step for GNP if it is to move out of the Asian Racing Federation sphere and take on the look of a truly international understanding. 'There are no commitments from anyone yet and a thing like this must go through a lot of consideration before some more countries might become signatories, but we have had interest and requests for information from countries in Europe, including the French,' he said.
