Independence remarks

I refer to the debate about Emily Lau Wai-hing's loyalty ('Dissent vs loyalty', September 25). Like all other readers, I cannot form any opinion on the comments made by Ms Lau in Taiwan on the question of Taiwan's independence because they were only briefly reported by the Hong Kong and Taiwan media.

Ms Lau has always advocated openness, transparency and accountability. I urge that she make public the full text of her speech, transcript of her comments and tape or video recordings of the conference. I am sure she has nothing to hide from the people of Hong Kong.

Air freight

I refer to 'Recovering costs?' (September 22) on the practice by lines of double-charging shippers the terminal charge. It is similar in the air-freight industry.

Air freight forwarders pay the terminal charge to Hongkong Air Cargo Terminal Ltd through the airlines. However, the airlines get to keep about 13 cents per kilogram. Is this amount justified for a money transfer? Forwarders have to pass on this cost to the shippers.
