It seems that casino magnate Stanley Ho is bulking up under pressure from foreign competition. He has installed 60 electronic slot machines at his Hotel Royal, despite having expressed a dislike for the impersonal gambling machines in the past.

At the opening of the casino's Mocha Slot Lounge, Mr Ho showed he understands he will have to lift his game to compete with his competitors.

'With the liberalisation of the gaming industry, increasing competition stimulates a hyper-creative market. We, as the pioneer, are always aiming at meeting the market needs, and will create a brand-new entertainment concept for our customers. Mocha Slot Lounge has already given birth to a brand-new entertainment era,' Mr Ho said at Monday's opening ceremony.
