Rainey's long waiting game

WORLD 500 cc motorcycle champion Wayne Rainey will have to wait months to know whether he will ever walk again after crashing in the Italian Grand Prix, doctors said last night.


The 32-year-old Californian fractured a vertebra and suffered chest injuries after sliding off the circuit in Sunday's race.


Doctors at the hospital in Cesena said he was still too ill to be moved to a specialist unit in Britain or the United States as his family and Yamaha team want.
