Motorist accused of sex attack

POLICE arrested a taxi driver for allegedly trying to rape a waitress in Sai Kung early yesterday.

The 23-year-old waitress told police she escaped from a taxi parked in Kai Ham village, Ho Chung, but was followed by the driver, who pushed her during a struggle.

She sustained injuries to her legs and forehead and was taken to United Christian Hospital where she was admitted in fair condition.

Police later found the suspect in Ha Heung Road, To Kwa Wan.

The woman told police she was picked up by the driver, whom she had known for about a month, at about 1.30 am outside the restaurant where she worked.

He had been supposed to drive her home but stopped in Ho Chung instead.

She said he tried to rape her, but she resisted and was wounded by the man, who was armed with a knife.

She said she was pushed onto a slope during the struggle. She later reached a road and alerted the police at 5.20 am.
