Kennedy returns for anniversary
CAROLINE Kennedy Schlossberg was nine when she smashed a bottle of champagne on the USS John F Kennedy.
Twenty-five years later she returned to Norfolk, Virgina, to mark the aircraft carrier's anniversary.
''It's really an honour to be back,'' she said. ''My father would be so proud of this memorial. I'm proud.'' Mrs Schlossberg used a bowling pin to practise her swing as a child. When the christening took place, she said the spray of champagne surprised her.
''I remember so well how nervous I was christening, because I didn't know how hard to swing the bottle,'' she said.
She attended a gala on the ship and presented the carrier's crew a copy of Profiles in Courage, her father's book about politicians he admired.
