Creative Writing

If you check up an English-Chinese dictionary for the words 'landscape' and 'scenery', the chances are that you will get the same Chinese vocabulary in both entries. However, 'landscape' and 'scenery' are not interchangeable. For example, we do not say that we admire the landscape. 'Scenery' is more appropriate in this context.

Scenery is the land as it appears to a viewer.

Example: The beautiful scenery attracts thousands of tourists every year.

Landscape is what you see when you are travelling through a piece of land. It is a combination of hills, fields and buildings.

Example: Walking through the city's metropolitan landscape, it is difficult to find a place to go when nature calls.
