Bad case of writer's shock

On Wednesday shortly after midnight, Time Asia supremo Karl Taro Greenfeld (left) was on his way back from Shenzhen when someone snatched his Apple Macintosh laptop and Palm Pilot in Hunghom KCRC station.

The Mac contained notes from over 100 interviews, and a large portion of his manuscript for his highly anticipated book on the Sars crisis.

'I have spent the past six months on it. I am just too shocked, need one or two days to think what to do next,' the journalist and acclaimed author said. 'I was adding value to my Octopus card when someone snatched it. I tried to chase after him.'

Greenfeld still has a year to finish the book, described as a 'comprehensive' investigation of the global outbreak. He is offering a $50,000 reward for the return of his belongings, no questions asked. Anyone with information can call 6537 0716.
