Security team approved for PM's visit

Pakistan has allowed India to bring in armed commandos, bullet-proof BMWs and electronic security equipment ahead of Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee's pivotal visit to Islamabad.

The assassination attempts on Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf have heightened Indian security jitters over Mr Vajpayee's visit on January 4 to 6 to attend the South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation summit.

'Pakistan has agreed to our request for taking a convoy of vehicles fitted with jammers and sophisticated security equipment and a large number of commandos [for Mr Vajpayee's visit]', a senior Foreign Ministry official told the Press Trust of India news agency after the latest attempt on General Musharraf's life.
