An expensive pensive gathering

An impressive gathering of celebs and high flyers came out to toast the launch of the new flagship store of penmaker Montblanc. Its new 1,200sqft fort on the second floor of Pacific Place attracted a host of serious shoppers and VIPs.

Montblanc president and chief executive Norbert Platt flew in from Hamburg to host the ceremony.

Among those making their way to the shopping centre on a busy Saturday afternoon were Cecil Chao's daughter, Gigi, Albert and Polly Wong and Angela Ching, who graciously dropped by after their routine high tea.

Local TV news anchor James Chau made an appearance as well with architect Greg Pearce. David and Avisha Harilela paid a lot of attention to the limited edition gold 'I Love HK' pens, proceeds from the sale of which went to Unicef.

But all eyes were on the guests of honour, Gigi Leung Wing-kei and Pansy Ho Chiu-king, who - between the two of them - attracted more paparazzi than the Swire security guards could handle.

There was a touch of competition over who needed more time and blue jackets to escape the building. Gigi took about 10 minutes and half a dozen guards; Pansy managed it in half the time.
