Twelve people were killed and 15 others injured after two separate explosions ripped through fireworks factories in Hunan.
A family of six and three others died on Wednesday in an illegal fireworks factory in the province's Liling city, a local official said.
Five people were also injured, three of whom were in serious, but stable, condition last night, according to Guo Jian, deputy director of Liling's propaganda department.
In the city of Loudi, three people were killed and 10 injured on Tuesday when a village firecracker workshop exploded after a cart carrying highly flammable materials crashed accidentally, local media reported.
Most of the workers at the factory were elderly people, the report said. The factory was believed to be operating legally.
The explosion in Liling, which occurred at about 9.30am in Huangtazui township, created a shockwave so strong that a two-storey building was flattened and windows of nearby houses were shattered.
