Light has always been Kelzly Inka Lee's source of inspiration in her work as jewellery designer, photographer, sculptor and artist, and her Ultra Vivid Lamps are not only functional but art in their own right. With acrylic, metal and rubber as the main components, Lee's handmade lamps aren't your run-of-the-mill stand and shade, nor do they conform to the clean-lined modern look so popular in Hong Kong. Instead, they are designed to 'shape the shadows': the materials used are riddled with holes, and light bulbs are placed strategically to give the best effects. The collection includes quirky floor, table and wall-mounted lamps such as the UFO-shaped Evergreen ($2,550; pictured) from the Flying Saucer series. The lamps can be viewed by appointment and ordered from Insenses, B/F, 41B Staunton Street, Central. Call Lee on 6126 8476 for further details.
