It was cold. It was wet. But the bad weather failed to deter people from flocking to colourful Lunar New Year stalls in Victoria Park last night.
The Observatory said temperatures dropped to 9 degrees Celsius in urban areas and 8 degrees in rural areas last night as the city prepares for its coldest Lunar New Year since 1996.
At Victoria Park, venue of the largest fair, a woman stallholder said she was happy that so many people had visited her fresh flower stall and hoped she would have more visitors tonight.
'It is nice. The weather is cold, but that means our flowers can last longer, which is a good omen,' she said, adding that she expected an even larger crowd this evening.
