At last, everything becomes clear. Your front-page article headlined 'US to review its Iraq intelligence' (January 27), ironic enough in itself, has finally revealed the catastrophic intelligence failure that led to the invasion of Iraq.

Despite the claim by White House spokesman Scott McClellan that 'the decision that we made was the right decision and what we know today only reconfirms that it was the right decision', everything becomes clear with the revelation that Saddam Hussein was a delusional novelist with little grasp of reality and a belief in his own immunity from the law.

It is a tale of two cities. London was the actual target of the war against 'weapons of mass distraction' and the US guards holding Mr Hussein had better beware of Jeffrey Archer arriving to visit and leaving in a dufflecoat with the hood up.
