Unicom management in top-tier revamp

Hong Kong-listed China Unicom has confirmed a management reshuffle, with senior executives giving way to younger managers at the mainland's No?2 mobile carrier.

Leaving the company are executive director and executive vice-president Shi Cuiming, non-executive director Ge Lei and vice-president Liu Yunjie, the company said.

Meanwhile, the company has appointed director of parent China United Telecommunications Corp, Tong Jilu, as executive director and chief financial officer.

Zhao Le was named executive director and vice-president while Liu Yunjie was appointed a non-executive director of the company.

Sources said Mr Shi, 64, was being poached by red chip conglomerate Citic Pacific to give a boost to its mainland telecommunications business.
