PUPPET SHOW

Los Angeles-based puppeteer Jim Gamble will grace Hong Kong once again with his acclaimed show, The Wonderful World of Puppets.

Gamble has been performing with his colourful puppets for 35 years and is renowned for his intricate marionette designs and sense of humour. Gamble's charming puppets will come to life to perform dances and even skate and juggle.

You can catch his performances at Sha Tin Town Hall (Thursday, 8pm), Tsuen Wan Town Hall (Friday, 8pm), North District Town Hall (Saturday, 8pm) and Tuen Mun Town Hall (Sunday, 3pm). Tickets cost from $90 to $120 with half-price tickets available for full-time students from Urbtix on 2734 9009.

PIANO CONCERT

Internationally acclaimed pianist Marc-Andre Hamelin will perform the works of Sergei Rachmaninov in Rachmaninov in Hamelin's Hands, a concert presented by Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra as part of the Hong Kong Arts Festival.

The show, conducted by Okko Kamu, will be held in the Concert Hall at Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall at 8pm today.

Tickets cost $440, $340, $240 and $140 with half-price admission for students via Urbtix on 2734 9009.

ARTS PIAZZA PARTY

The 2004 Hong Kong Arts Festival will kick off with an opening ceremony and an array of street performances on the harbour-front promenade at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre today.

The free open-air performances are presented by Australian groups Strange Fruit, Stalker Theatre Company and Snuff Puppets, and will include stilt dancing, a giant puppet show and acrobatics.

The fun-packed party will take place from 6pm to 7.45pm today and 5.30pm to 7.30pm from Friday to Sunday. Inquiries on 2824 2430.
