New programme for Hartford Institute

The Hartford Institute has added a new MBA to its inventory with the launch of the California State University, Hayward (CSUH) programme. The first intake of students will be in May and about 35 students are expected to enrol.

The programme was previously offered in Hong Kong through another institution, and has been available since the 1990s.

According to course consultant Eugenia Ho, the programme focuses on high technology and global management, which she says is very important for the Hong Kong market.

She says this is reflected in the course content, which includes management of technology and innovation, e-commerce, global supply chain and high-performance management.

'All of them are very important to today's emerging economy. This MBA programme is truly a global education for today's managers and has been developed in Russia, the European Union, Singapore and China.'

Over the course of 16 months, 11 courses are supported by block seminars held over two weekends and two week nights, conducted by CSUH faculty. Students need to put in anywhere between 25 and 40 hours of study per module.

California State University has received many high ratings in recent years. In 1999, its EMBA programme came first on Business Week Online's top 100 list, and both the university and the programme have received high ratings in publications in Russia and Europe.

The MBA has been accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business since 1973. The association grants accreditation for undergraduate and graduate business administration programmes to universities worldwide.

The rating assures CSUH programmes meet rigid standards on faculty qualifications, research, scholarship, curriculum design, and admission requirements.

Tuition fees for the programme are $114,000.
