According to 60 Minutes last week, President George W. Bush may not be a member of Christian Evangelicalism, a fundamentalist group, but his deputy defence minister, who inappropriately criticised another faith regarding the Iraq invasion, almost certainly is.
They think alike in that the world is divided into black and white according to whether people believe in the Bible their way. Good and bad lies not in deeds, but in belief or non-belief. I shall doubt the political wisdom of the American electorate if it re-elects a president whose thinking is in line with fundamentalism, thus putting the US on the verge of being a theocracy.
