Jockey Club relaxes overweight rule
Sunday, 05 August, 2012, 8:49am
The Hong Kong Jockey Club has altered the rules on jockey overweights with immediate effect, meaning that David Hayes-trained Equator Kid will carry two pounds overweight in the third race today.
The new rule will allow retained jockeys to put up two pounds overweight on horses trained by their retaining stable. Gerald Mosse is now retained by Hayes.
Overweights were previously allowed only on lightly weighted horses and Mosse would not have been permitted to post overweight on a horse handicapped at 120 pounds.
