FIVE intrepid adventurers leave Hong Kong this morning for Kashgar in the west of China's Xinjiang Autonomous Region to attempt the first walk across the Taklamakan Desert. The 70-day expedition with 30 camels is being led by retired British Army Major Charles Blackmore across the desert whose name translates as ''he who goes in does not come out''.
