HEAVY-METAL THIEVES ROCK CITY

Business must be brisk for the metal recycling industry, judging from the types of theft being investigated by the police in recent weeks.

On Wednesday, cleaners reported seven stainless-steel soap dispensers were missing at a public toilet in Canton Road, Mongkok. On the same day, thieves were spotted making off with two large road signs posted outside a Drainage Service Department construction site in Nam Cheong Street, Shamshuipo.

One was arrested later at a recycling collection station but the others escaped.

Last month thieves nabbed 31 manhole covers worth $48,800 outside Po Lam MTR station and the Metro City housing estate in Yan King Road, Tseung Kwan O. LoDown believes this is a rising crime trend. We demand to know what the police are doing to stop this.
