The Education and Manpower Bureau (EMB) is to hold a seminar on school bullying this afternoon for parents and teachers.

Educators and social workers will discuss the nature of bullying and offer professional advice on how to detect and prevent violence in schools.

Starting from today, the EMB will also offer a series of forums and sharing sessions at weekends as part of the programme of Teachers' Professional Experience Sharing Month 2004.

The theme of the month-long programme is 'Cultivation of New Pedagogies and Construction of School Cultures'.

Schools and academia will share their views and experiences in relevant issues, including new pedagogies in different subjects, curriculum development, and sharing of school practices in education reforms.

Other issues including comparative studies with overseas education, gifted education, learning difficulties, professional training of teachers and school management will also be discussed.

A forum on the impact of mainland-Hong Kong relationships on local curriculum development will be held on March 27 as the closing event to the programme.

The seminar on school bullying will be held in Kowloon Tong Government Primary School from 2.30pm to 4.30pm. Admission is free. Details of Teachers' Professional Experience Sharing Month 2004 is available at http://teachernet.ed.gov.hk
