About 200 primary school students and parents have put their handprints on a 5.5 by 1.2 metre canvas on a terrace at City University in an event organised by the Hong Kong Family Welfare Society and CityU students on the theme 'Speak Your Mind, Family Will Shine'.

'We wanted to provide a chance for families to get together,' said organiser Alice Nip Ming-man, a member of the project group from the university's English for Professional Communication programme. 'The purpose of our project is to publicise the concept of developing mutual respect, trust and understanding between parents and children.'

Prizes were also handed out to 60 primary pupils for their paintings on the theme 'Home Sweet Home', chosen from 1,600 submissions.
