Tiptop tapas

The Ninetyseven Group's Cafe Einstein in Quarry Bay, which opened in 1995 as Q before changing in 2000 to its present incarnation, is evolving once again. The restaurant will keep its name and well-priced set lunch (three courses for $85 plus 10 per cent) but is adding tapas and Spanish wines to the all-day menu. Those who frequented Central's now-defunct El Pomposo will recognise the menu. There are vegetarian-friendly tapas ($50) that include deep-fried camembert with raspberry vinaigrette and aubergine and zucchini gratin. Seafood and meat tapas cost $60 and include crab cakes with aioli and lemon, fried oysters with stewed leeks and green olive sauce, marinated duck breast cooked with figs, and Spanish-style meatballs with cumin and paprika. The indecisive can order the 'mixed boards' ($150 vegetarian, $170 meat, seafood, or chef's selection). Cafe Einstein is at 33 Tong Chong Street, Quarry Bay, tel: 2960 0994.
