Masked robber flees with $10,000 from bank

A masked robber escaped with $10,000 from a bank in Lam Tin yesterday afternoon. He handed a note to a woman employee saying he was armed with explosives and that he needed money to see a doctor. The teller at the Hang Seng Bank branch in Kai Tin Road handed the man the cash, after which he snatched the note and fled.

Sweep nets illegal workers and employers

Police and Labour Department inspectors have arrested six mainland women and five employers in a crackdown on illegal workers in Wan Chai. The six - all two-way-permit holders - were found selling fruit, vegetables and sweets at market stalls and working in restaurants.

meat seller attacked at market stall

A man with a chopper attacked a woman, 48, selling meat in a stall in the Tip King Road market in Butterfly Estate, Tuen Mun. The woman was in serious condition in Tuen Mun Hospital. It is understood the woman, who had run a meat stall but closed it a year ago, was involved in an ongoing dispute with another stall owner.

suspected triad chopped An alleged member of the Wo Shing Wo triad gang was among three parking lot attendants chopped in a series of attacks in Yau Ma Tei. The suspected triad, 24, suffered multiple injuries when he was attacked by four men in Portland Street.

Mark six bonanza

The first-prize winner of today's Mark Six lottery could scoop $52 million as there have been no first-prize winners in the past five draws. The Hong Kong Jockey Club said the jackpot for today's draw had snowballed to more than $36 million.
