Pet Peril in Western

A 28-year-old Filipino woman had to be rescued by firemen yesterday morning after she climbed out of a 12th-floor balcony in Western District. The woman accidentally stranded herself on a ledge when she tried to retrieve a pet dog that had clambered out.

360,000 exit for Easter

More than 360,000 people left Hong Kong on the first day of the Easter holidays. The figure, as of 5pm, included 180,000 who left through the Lowu checkpoint. The Immigration Department had opened all 72 counters there and the flow of travellers was described as smooth.

tourists steal cash

Two Jordanian tourists were arrested for stealing about $10,000 in North Point. Police allege the pair, a 25-year-old man and a woman, 45, stole the cash from a car parts dealer at 4pm. They allegedly stole the cash while the shopkeeper was busy finding change for a purchase they had made.

Lion rock crash

The Kowloon-bound lanes of the Lion Rock Tunnel were temporarily closed after a three-vehicle crash. The accident happened near the Kowloon exit at 2pm when a taxi, a private car and a goods van collided. The driver of the car and the driver and a passenger in the van were injured and taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

An Easter Carnival will be held tomorrow at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre foyer and piazza.
