Pat Metheny
Not only is he a great guitarist, but also one of the greatest musicians and composers of our generation. His musical vision covers anything from avant garde and free-form music to tender ballads - and everything in between. As an improviser, he is a great storyteller, taking you on a ride when you listen to him.
John Scofield
Scofield is also a very fluid improviser. He is influenced by all the jazz greats but also grew up listening to and playing soul, R&B and rock. Open to all kinds of music, his current project is a groove-oriented jam band which appeals to younger audiences while exposing them to sophisticated jazz improvisation.
Scott Henderson
Bringing rock and blues into his jazz improvisation, his playing has a hard, edgy feel. Using mainly distorted tones, his playing is also very fluid. A great composer as well.
Jeff Beck
To me, he is the greatest rock guitarist. Always innovative, he can say so much with just a few notes when others use a million. He picks the strings with his fingers instead of using a pick. A master at using the tremolo bar, his playing is always emotional and expressive.
Peter Bernstein
Bernstein is the best young mainstream jazz guitarist on the scene today. He carries on the classic jazz guitar tradition and plays with a beautiful clean tone. He's a very lyrical player.
