Trainer Ivan Allan will make his final sortie on an international race in the $12 million Yasuda Kinen in Tokyo on June 6.

'Self Flit has received an invitation to the race and we will be going,' Allan said yesterday.

Eddie Lai Wai-ming, who won the Classic Mile and finished second in the 2003 Derby on the horse, will ride Self Flit in Japan.

'I have always tried to support the local riders in Hong Kong and Eddie has a good record on Self Flit,' Allan said.

It will be Allan's fifth attempt on the Yasuda Kinen, one of Japan's most prestigious events and following the trainer's announcement that he will retire at the end of June, the race will have special significance.

It was in the Yasuda Kinen four years ago that Allan landed Hong Kong's only overseas Group One winner with Fairy King Prawn.

He also finished second in the race with Oriental Express in 1999.
