Hi-tech hotel: Mongkok will get its first five-star hotel in July. The Langham Place Hotel says it will be the most technologically advanced hotel in Asia Pacific. Thanks to its 'wi-fi bubble', guests will be able to use their in-room mobile phone and access wireless broadband throughout the hotel. The Langham will also be the first hotel in the world to incorporate colour IP phones in every room, so guests can access weather, news, stock quotes and web-based radio, and send SMS without having to log on. The hotel can programme the phones of return guests with their most frequently dialled numbers, and load a photo of their family as the screensaver. Other technology highlights include wall-mounted plasma TVs and safes with sockets to recharge laptops and video cameras while they're being stored. The hotel is part of the 1.8 million sqft Langham Place development (pictured) that will cover four city blocks and include a mall with more than 300 shops and restaurants (555 Shanghai St, Mongkok, tel: 3552 3388, www.langham hotels.com).

Local hero: Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has been voted the world's favourite airport, for the fourth year running. Nearly five million passengers from 86 countries completed the Airport of the Year survey organised by Skytrax. HKIA scored highly for its open spaces, clarity throughout the terminal buildings, natural daylight and external views. Asian airports dominated the pole positions, with Singapore Changi coming a close second, Seoul Incheon in fourth place and Kuala Lumpur's KLIA Airport coming in fifth (from ninth the year before). Amsterdam Schiphol, in third place, was the only non-Asian airport in the top five.

Live like a pharoah: Spa Philosophy is offering a Macau Getaway Package for between HK$1,294 and HK$1,544. It includes two spa treatments (a 55-minute massage and either a 55-minute facial or body wrap), a night's stay at the newly renamed five-star Macau Pharoah's Hotel (formerly The Landmark, www.landmark hotel.com.mo) on a twinshare basis, and shuttlebus transfers. The package is valid until December, except during the Macau Grand Prix from November 17 to 20 (tel: [853] 728 330, www.spaphilosophy.com).
A gay day: A gay walking tour is being held every Sunday around London's Soho district, taking in the haunts of Oscar Wilde, Noel Coward and Virginia Wolfe, among others. No booking is required for the two-hour tour, which starts at 2pm at the offices of the organiser, charity Kairos-in-Soho. Tickets are #5 (HK$69) (56 Old Compton Street, www.kairosinsoho.org.uk).
Pick of the poll: Highlights of the 2004 Readers' Favourites Survey, commissioned online by Departures magazine, published exclusively for American Express Platinum Card and Centurion members. Full results are published in the May/June issue and at www.departures.com/survey.
