Adult television is coming to the mainland. However, viewers tuning in to look for pornographic films will be in for a shock.

Wang Weiping, deputy director of the Television Series Management Department under the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, told the China News Service that the suggestive name was just a way of telling people that the content was unsuitable for a young audience.

The new channel, which is likely to be offered as part of a new pay-television package, will feature crime dramas recently banned from prime time positions.

Mainland officials are also working on a classification system for television programming. Shi Jiangtao
