Improving Dr Well has healthy chance

A jackpot of $4 million boosts this Sunday's Triple Trio at Sha Tin, where the formidable John Size-Shane Dye team can accommodate players with the ideal banker in the middle leg in lightly raced Dr Well.

There was a great deal to admire about Dr Well's debut on April 25 when second to Favourite Express over 1,400 metres. The Danehill gelding is open to considerable improvement and though he will need luck from gate 13, he looks the one to beat. His preparation is reminiscent of that of stablemate In The Bank, who ran well on debut and went on to win his next two starts, including a victory over Check Mate at 1,400 metres.

That was also an outstanding effort from Check Mate, who should relish the step up to a mile.

The track bias made it difficult for well-supported Fuji Sunrise, who finished seventh in the race won by Favourite Express. He too should appreciate the step up in trip and has shown enough potential to figure in the finish.

Harry Harry finished third to subsequent winner Lucky Marauding over the course and distance back in February and if able to produce similar form he should go close again. A good value chance is Gold Digger, who showed signs of improvement in a recent dirt trial with the visor applied for the first time.

A drop in grade and the seven-pound claim of Paul Lo Pak-hin makes Noble Hero an appealing choice in the opening leg. He won his only start on the all-weather track earlier this year, at 1,200 metres, and looks well placed to repeat.

Amazing Victory ran well in defeat when second to Horoscope over 1,200 metres at Happy Valley last month, his first run in over five months. He should be fitter for the run and trials well on the surface so keep him safe.

Holy Quest is a genuine dirt specialist and looks one to include on the strength of his four victories over the course and distance. Both Saintly Partners and Double Dip moved quite well in recent dirt trials and merit consideration. Devon Elite strikes his preferred course and distance for the first time in a while and is another with place claims.

Although he would prefer further, Size also has a good option for banker in the final leg over the dirt mile with Dynamic Fun.

This fellow caught the eye when flashing home for fourth over 1,200 metres earlier this month and should strip fitter for that outing. He is well drawn in gate three and, as a former dirt winner, he looks a solid banker choice.

Joyful Spirit beat Good Trio over the course and distance on March 7 and both have solid chances again.

Master Gigolo ran very on his first attempt over the surface when second to Sure Fit. A repeat of that sort of form would make him a leading contender. Packing Angel was most impressive in a recent trial on May 4 and gave the indication he has progressed enough to warrant serious respect.

Port Of Hope looks the logical selection for banker in the third event following a sterling performance when third to Super Dana over 1,800 metres earlier this month. He will relish the step up in distance and looks too good for Class Five.

Legend's Glory displayed improvement recently and merits strong consideration, while Multi Ransom has shown enough potential to pose a threat. The drop in class is ideal for Active Account, who has each-way claims.
