Good-looking glass

Forget the standard transparent stuff, fun and funky glassware is where it's at. Gaffer Studio Glass gallery (15/F, The Centrium, 60 Wyndham Street, Central, tel: 2521 1770; www.gafferstudioglass.com) has a wealth of innovative and eye-catching pieces that add a splash of colour to any table setting or room. Check out Maureen Williams' Coloured series that includes bright cone vases and platters (below; from $3,900 to $5,000) and David Levi's Candy Bowl (above; $3,900), created for Ibex Glass America, which looks good enough to eat. It comes in fire-engine red (pictured), lime green, Dutch blue and corn yellow. More subtle but no less striking are contemporary glass sculptures by award-winning Australian glass artist Kirstie Rea and glass wall panels that look like oil paintings by fellow Australian Lisa Cahill. The work of both artists will be featured at the gallery's Open Spaces, Treasured Places - Beyond The Visible exhibit until June 19.
