Designer has big plans

Heineken
Caryn Yap

Avant-garde French designer Ora-ito is being lured back to our sunny harbour and plans to open a studio here.

'I'll be coming back to Hong Kong soon because I want to open a little studio. I don't like very many countries, but I like Hong Kong very much. I want to design a big tower in Hong Kong,' says Ito with a mischievous grin.

Ito was here for an exhibition of his designs organised by Heineken and fashion outlet D-Mop. It featured creations such as the Louis Vuitton 'Back-Up' rucksack, and monogrammed LV trainers and shoes, adidas perfume bottles and a series of Heineken Ito products.

Also at the event were Hong Kong urban artists including Syan - also known as MC Yan from disbanded rap outfit LMF - comic book animator Li Chi-tak and the Brothers Free crew. The exhibition ends next month.
