Once is an accident, twice looks like a deliberate choice. Among the fabulous cakes Maxim's is offering for Father's Day tomorrow is a 1kg 'Daddy Sure Win', topped with fruit and chocolate horses, to wish dad many winning bets at the racecourse.

Is Maxim's really out to encourage parents to gamble? Last month for Mother's Day, the food and cake chain sold a 1kg 'Lucky in all directions' creation, topped by a chocolate-coated mahjong set for mum, with a combination that is the Chinese equivalent of a full house.

Maybe this is Maxim's idea of a happy home, with mum playing marathon mahjong and dad at the racetrack!
