You might not be able to smell your own body odour, but the people around you can. To avoid embarrassment (and to be considerate to other people), put on deodorant every morning. Most deodorants last 24 hours. Apply deodorant to clean armpits, first making sure the skin isn't irritated. If it's a liquid deodorant, let it dry before dressing.

Dermalogica environmental control deodorant ($220/64g)

The great thing about this product is that it doesn't leave any stains or white residue on your clothes, which is especially good if you're wearing silk. But it is bulky and pricey.

Rexona anti-perspirant deodorant roll-on ($29.90/40ml)

We tested this deodorant out last year and it remains one of our favourites. It's light fragrance and dry texture keeps you fresh. The big roll glides across your underarms just perfectly. And, at $29.90, what more can you ask for?

Clinique Happy deodorant natural spray for men ($135/200ml)

The odour of this natural spray is quite strong. But the good thing about it is that it dries quickly. It's also a good product for sensitive skin.

Mentholatum Bodyice deodorant roll-on for men ($18.30/20ml)

A wonderful product that is portable and cheap. The fragrance is light and the cooling liquid refreshes your skin. Its effect on the skin is long lasting.

Dove anti-perspirant deodorant pump spray ($35.90/75ml)

The good thing about this pump spray is that it leaves no white residue. It does, however, take a little while to dry and the smell, although pleasant enough, is quite strong.

Rexona anti-perspirant deodorant stick ($29.90/40g)

This deodorant stick goes on dry, so there's no waiting around before you can put your clothes on. Its smell is subtle and fresh, and won't clash with your perfume.
