Cable 'failing to deliver goods'

Cable TV's Euro 2004 programming is rubbish, just like the World Cup. Words cannot express the utter contempt Cable TV has shown for the beautiful game, by its style of inane, childish, and trivial programming.

I manage the Champs Bar in the Charterhouse Hotel and 80 per cent of my bar's football watching guests are local Chinese, the audience Cable markets to, and not one - yes that's not one person - likes it in the slightest. They all prefer the slick professionalism from the ESPN guys in Singapore.

This is not a number-of-matches-provided issue, but a 'let's build up to the game with some expertise' issue. Dancing girls, however cute they may be, washed-up comedians who were never funny in their prime, presenters with stupid fly masks, or face paint for the last World Cup, and with less knowledge of the game than most of my guests are not providing the people of Hong Kong with what they need, regardless of what Cable thinks. Cable, you are failing to deliver the goods daily.
