It seems every gadget has an underwater version these days. When you dive into the water you can wear your watch and take a torch and even a digital camera. If only we could listen to music - the Jaws theme, perhaps - while snorkelling over corals and tropical fish or swimming lengths in the pool. Once again, technology is one step ahead. Oceanic, an American company that sells diving products, has released the H2O Audio Underwater MP3 player for music-loving swimmers, divers and surfers. The player is actually the popular iFP series iRiver MP3 from Korea, which has a capacity ranging from 64MB to 256MB. But the player's waterproof housing allows it to be used at depths of up to 60 metres. If a scuba diver is using a full-face mask the speakers can be attached with removable clips to the inside of the mask; snorkellers can simply place the speakers in their ears as normal. Buttons on the housing's exterior mean the user can operate the controls without opening the casing and letting the water flood in.
