Jermaine's tip from the top

NBA star Jermaine O'Neal hands out tips to some of Hong Kong's budding basketball players during a coaching session at Southorn Stadium in Wan Chai yesterday. More than 1,500 fans watched O'Neal put the players through their paces. O'Neal, who plays for the Indiana Pacers, stressed that in order to be a successful player 'first of all, be mentally prepared, the only way you can get better is to get with the mental aspects of playing professional basketball'. O'Neal, who started his NBA career at 18 which made him the youngest player, is recovering from a torn ligament, which forced him to withdraw from America's Olympic team. 'I had the option to get it repaired [by surgical means] or to sit out for two months and let my body repair it naturally,' he said, preferring the latter option. 'I want to be one of the best players ever in the game, but I still have a lot to do.'
