Shenzhen continues to face a water shortage despite the recent tropical storm and rain showers.

Last week's Tropical Storm Kompasu brought only temporary relief from the two-year drought. The Shenzhen Observatory said rain during the storm had been uneven. Futian and Lowu experienced torrential downpours, while other parts of the city were left dry.

The drought in some suburban districts is particularly serious and the Shenzhen government is considering building more canals to solve the problem.
