Barbara Sturdy attends a fund-raising event in Tsim Sha Tsui last night to support her bid as Hong Kong's first female sailor in the Global Challenge Sailing Race. Sturdy, a Hamburg native who has lived in Hong Kong for more than 12 years, will join the crew of the Twelfth-Twelfth in October, when the race for the Princess Royal Trophy begins. The yachts will head from Portsmouth to Buenos Aires, Wellington, Sydney, Cape Town, Boston and La Rochelle, before returning to Portsmouth 10 months later.
