Dazzling routine

More than 300 people gathered for the opening of Lalique's new store in Central's IFC2 earlier this month to sip cocktails, admire the sparklers - and look up skirts.

After starting proceedings with a dramatic crystal-lighting ceremony, six can-can girls in colourful attire burst into high-kicking action to the theme song from the film Moulin Rouge. Party-goers milled around the two models showcasing jewellery and appreciated Lalique's crystal sculptures.

The opening was officiated by France's Consul-General to Hong Kong, Serge Mostura. Apart from Lalique top brass, guests included philanthropists Helen Fong and Ina Chou, Regina Wang and Darryl Mak, owner of Caves de France Cassam Gooljarry and son Adrian, singer Joyce Lee Lok-see, Samantha Choi Chak-lam, Ritz-Carlton vice-president Mark Lettenbichler and Ursule Wong Yu-see, daughter of composer James Wong.
