Retailer on lookout for product sourcing manager

Accomplished managers with the gift of the gab and plenty of sourcing and merchandising experience have the chance to join a major European retailer.

Europe's leading home improvement retailer, ranked number three in the world and with more than 560 stores in nine countries, is looking for a top-notch product sourcing manager, electrical and lighting.

Part of the Kingfisher Group and set up in 1994, Kingfisher Asia sources an increasing volume of products directly from manufacturers in the Asia-Pacific region while ensuring that its suppliers conform to the group's quality, environment, ethical and social requirements.

The manager, with a team of 10 merchandisers, will be in charge of sourcing and development of innovative products on behalf of Kingfisher's European buyers.

Duties will include developing and implementing sourcing strategies across ranges of lighting products, electrical accessories and home appliances.

To land this position, applicants will need to have at least five years of sourcing and merchandising experience at a managerial level for a European retailer or trading house.

A good understanding of Europe's market requirements and trends of lighting products, electrical goods and home appliances - and their best Asian sources - will be of particular value to the company.

Exposure to technical and European Community safety requirements is equally essential.

A successful resume will include a successful track record involving staff development and managing sourcing projects.

Key personal traits should include strong negotiation skills and an aptitude for developing and monitoring relations with key vendors.

Only those able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines should apply for this position.

Excellent spoken and written English, Putonghua and Cantonese will be welcomed, while French as a fourth language will prove to be a definite advantage.
